    • 6 Activities: Students will practice each part of RACE. There are activities to target restating and answering, citing the evidence, explaining your thinking, understanding the difference between citing and explaining and building a constructed RACE response.
    • 10 Passages: Students read a 1-3 paragraph passage and underline key details as they read. Students then answer a question by writing a short response that follows the RACE writing strategy. A checklist is provided for them to check their work.
  • LEVEL 2 (differentiated)
    • 6 Activities: Students will practice each part of RACE. There are activities to target restating and answering, citing the evidence, explaining your thinking, understanding the difference between citing and explaining and building a constructed RACE response. Level 2 activities consist of multiple choice, simplified language, or the use of an organizer.
    • 10 Passages: Students read a 1-3 paragraph passage and underline key details as they read. Students then answer a question by completing a graphic organizer for each part of the RACE writing strategy. Sentence starters are given for the cite and explain parts of the organizer.
  • Answer keys are provided for all activities & passages.
